About Our Team

Shannon Wohlman, MA, MSW, LMFT

(She/Her/Hers)

Co-Owner

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Social Worker. I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), a skills based therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR- through EMDRIA), which focuses on relieving distress associated with traumatic memories. I also have advanced training in perinatal mental health, infertility & pregnancy or infant loss.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples ages 14 and older from all backgrounds. I also have experience working with individuals who have been involved with the criminal justice system.

I identify with the Brene Brown quote: “Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” I believes one of the most brave things someone can do is reach out for help.

Rachel Shoemaker, MA, LMFT, LADC

(She/Her/Hers)

Co-Owner

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as a Licensed Alcohol and
Drug Counselor. I believe in treating a person and/or a family through a holistic,
systemic approach to achieve overall healing, not just “ putting a band-aid on it”.

I work with a variety of people from all different walks of life, ages 16 and higher. I
am particularly passionate about helping those who struggle anxiety, depression,
trauma, and personality disorders. I also specialize in addiction and substance
abuse, working to help individuals gain freedom from their addictions and
strengthen themselves in their recovery journey.

I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Accelerated
Resolution Therapy (ART), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
(EMDR). I am also in the process of receiving training in Perinatal Mental Health, in
hopes of expanding my scope of practice to mothers in addiction recovery. In
utilizing these approaches, I enter into the therapeutic relationship with humor,
validation, and most importantly respect for each individual’s experience.

My belief as a therapist is that everybody "gets stuck" from time to time in their life. Therapy that focuses on individual strengths challenging intrusive thoughts or ineffective behaviors to help people get "unstuck" has been my goal as a therapist for over 15 years. I take a no nonsense approach to assist clients in not just feeling better but being better at "feeling". Therapy is about movement and becoming "emotionally fit".

I help individuals, couples and families navigate difficult stressful times by learning tools and rediscovering effective coping skills that each individual has. I assist clients in understanding their own particular challenges and help build their confidence in their ability to exert control over their own motivations, behaviors, emotions and environments.

Mary-Rose Granlund, MSW, LICSW

Eagan Office

I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in early childhood trauma and parenting guidance. I strongly believe in the importance of relationships. I have extensive training in the Developmental Repair model and use Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment Therapy. I love to find ways to help families connect and understand each other better using play, especially through games.

I have a holistic, family-centered approach when working with a child's challenging behaviors. I believe that behavior is a language of children, so I help children and their caregivers explore the causes while providing support and solutions that help relieve stress for everyone. Being a caregiver in today's society can feel very difficult. My goal is to help caregivers find the joy in parenting, while also helping children better understand and communicate their needs.

Jamie Hacket, MSW, LICSW, LCSW

Eagan Office

I have over 13 years of experience working with adults, children, and families in a variety of settings. My areas of expertise include working with those dealing with addiction, abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, societal issues, system conflicts, racism, and other life stressors. I work from a holistic, strength-based approach to help guide individuals and families into a space of healing. To acheive this, I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches focusing on the uniqueness of each individual or family, including Narrative Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as EMDR.

I hold the belief that client are the experts of their own lives, and am passionate about working with multicultural and marginalized populations. My goal is to foster a partnership with each client to help them on their journey through utilizing the core values of equity, trust, and community.

Naomi Haskins, MSW, LICSW

She/Her

I am licensed clinical social worker in Minnesota with over 5 years of experience as a therapist. I also have over 10 years of experience working with families as a social worker in hospital setting and family services. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and much more. I have specific training to help those who have experienced trauma or abuse. I have experience working with teens, and adults at varying points of life from young adult challenges, mid-life difficulties and elder concerns.

My counseling style is warm, interactive, and non-judgmental. My strengths are I am genuinely caring, open listening, encouraging, validating and supporting. I believe that the client is the expert on themselves so we work together to come up with goals and a treatment plan that supports your goals. My approach is solution-focused though I do like to incorporate narrative and holistic methods. I am able to work thru many modalities and we can try different skills/techniques and find what is going to work for you.

I believe everyone meets for a reason, and I believe that everyone's therapy journey is different, though there are threads of similarity. Therapy is your time, and I am here to guide, support, encourage and at times challenge. I look forward to being able to support and empower you on this journey.

We Have Experience With…

Trauma therapy

Professional counseling for people who have experienced trauma or abuse in their lives. Counseling for trauma and abuse is most effective when counselors use treatment methods specific to these issues. We have therapists trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to assist with resolving traumatic memories.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

A comprehensive cognitive-behavioral treatment that combines individual therapy and group skills training to treat various mental health concerns. At Encompass Hope, you’ll work with an experienced DBT therapist who can guide you through the process of developing goals, learning new skills, and implementing them in order to create a life worth living.

Individual Therapy

It is a one-on-one counseling relationship between a client and a therapist, in a confidential, safe, supportive environment. It is professional counseling for individuals experiencing challenges during a transition in their life or having mental health symptoms.

Couples Counseling

Professional counseling geared toward improving communication, and facilitating helpful discussions to identify the sources of emotional difficulty in your relationship. Couples counseling can help provide new perspectives, valuable insight and practical advice that can help rebuild trust and facilitate communication.

Family Therapy

Professional counseling aimed at helping families work through difficult transitions, conflict, and/or communication difficulties. Family therapists assist by helping people develop healthy communication and solutions that benefit the entire family system.

Teen Therapy

Professional counseling geared toward helping teens to learn skills to express themselves more productively, make healthy choices, cope with difficult emotions and communicate more effectively. When working with teens, therapists work hard to establish a sense of trust, understanding and mutual respect.

Reproductive Mental Health

Professional counseling from pre-pregnancy through the postpartum period. It can include individual, couple, family and/or group counseling, depending on individual needs. Two common conditions during the perinatal period are Postpartum Depression (PPD) and Postpartum Anxiety (PPA).

Telehealth

Professional counseling conducted via mobile video. Telehealth can be used for individual, couple, family or group therapy. You can enjoy the convenience and comfort of sitting at home, or in another quiet space, while talking to your therapist. Your security is our priority and you can expect telehealth sessions to remain confidential, while also being easy to use.

Anxiety and Depression

Professional counseling for individuals experiencing anxiety that is negatively impacting their daily lives. Usually anxiety treatment will involve individual counseling and/or group counseling utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) coping skills.
