About Our Team
Shannon Wohlman, MA, MSW, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Social Worker. I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), a skills based therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR- through EMDRIA), which focuses on relieving distress associated with traumatic memories. I also have advanced training in perinatal mental health, infertility & pregnancy or infant loss.
I enjoy working with individuals and couples ages 14 and older from all backgrounds. I also have experience working with individuals who have been involved with the criminal justice system.
I identify with the Brene Brown quote: “Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” I believes one of the most brave things someone can do is reach out for help.
Rachel Shoemaker, MA, LMFT, LADC
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as a Licensed Alcohol and
Drug Counselor. I believe in treating a person and/or a family through a holistic,
systemic approach to achieve overall healing, not just “ putting a band-aid on it”.
I work with a variety of people from all different walks of life, ages 16 and higher. I
am particularly passionate about helping those who struggle anxiety, depression,
trauma, and personality disorders. I also specialize in addiction and substance
abuse, working to help individuals gain freedom from their addictions and
strengthen themselves in their recovery journey.
I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Accelerated
Resolution Therapy (ART), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
(EMDR). I am also in the process of receiving training in Perinatal Mental Health, in
hopes of expanding my scope of practice to mothers in addiction recovery. In
utilizing these approaches, I enter into the therapeutic relationship with humor,
validation, and most importantly respect for each individual’s experience.
Philip Burton, MA, LPCC
My belief as a therapist is that everybody "gets stuck" from time to time in their life. Therapy that focuses on individual strengths challenging intrusive thoughts or ineffective behaviors to help people get "unstuck" has been my goal as a therapist for over 15 years. I take a no nonsense approach to assist clients in not just feeling better but being better at "feeling". Therapy is about movement and becoming "emotionally fit".
Mary-Rose Granlund, MSW, LICSW
I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in early childhood trauma and parenting guidance. I strongly believe in the importance of relationships. I have extensive training in the Developmental Repair model and use Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment Therapy. I love to find ways to help families connect and understand each other better using play, especially through games.
I have a holistic, family-centered approach when working with a child's challenging behaviors. I believe that behavior is a language of children, so I help children and their caregivers explore the causes while providing support and solutions that help relieve stress for everyone. Being a caregiver in today's society can feel very difficult. My goal is to help caregivers find the joy in parenting, while also helping children better understand and communicate their needs.
Naomi Haskins, MSW, LICSW
I am licensed clinical social worker in Minnesota with over 5 years of experience as a therapist. I also have over 10 years of experience working with families as a social worker in hospital setting and family services. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and much more. I have specific training to help those who have experienced trauma or abuse. I have experience working with teens, and adults at varying points of life from young adult challenges, mid-life difficulties and elder concerns.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, and non-judgmental. My strengths are I am genuinely caring, open listening, encouraging, validating and supporting. I believe that the client is the expert on themselves so we work together to come up with goals and a treatment plan that supports your goals. My approach is solution-focused though I do like to incorporate narrative and holistic methods. I am able to work thru many modalities and we can try different skills/techniques and find what is going to work for you.
I believe everyone meets for a reason, and I believe that everyone's therapy journey is different, though there are threads of similarity. Therapy is your time, and I am here to guide, support, encourage and at times challenge. I look forward to being able to support and empower you on this journey.
Jamie Hacket, MSW, LICSW, LCSW
I have over 13 years of experience working with adults, children, and families in a variety of settings. My areas of expertise include working with those dealing with addiction, abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, societal issues, system conflicts, racism, and other life stressors. I work from a holistic, strength-based approach to help guide individuals and families into a space of healing. To acheive this, I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches focusing on the uniqueness of each individual or family, including Narrative Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as EMDR.
I hold the belief that client are the experts of their own lives, and am passionate about working with multicultural and marginalized populations. My goal is to foster a partnership with each client to help them on their journey through utilizing the core values of equity, trust, and community.
Ryan Wohlman, PsyD, LP
I am a clinical psychologist that has been practicing since 2012; however, priori to that I worked in the mental health world dating back to 2005 at varying levels. My background is in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I have also been trained in EMDR, solution-oriented, and narrative strategies. I enjoy coming alongside people in their journey to get a better understanding of themselves and what their emotions are trying to do for them. I have really embraced the motto that although therapy may help you "feel better", my primary goal is to get someone "better at feeling".
I embrace being a geek and gamer, and enjoy bringing this into my practice. I do quite a bit of work with addictive behaviors, both chemical and non-chemical. As a former video game addict, I also enjoy helping people bring more balance into their daily lives regarding screen use and other process addictions (gambling, shopping, ect). I appreciate the framework of Dr. Mark Griffiths in thie world - helping people experience healthy enthusiasm vs addiction. Enthusiasms add to life; addictions take away from life.
I typically work with adults and older teens for individual counseling. I enjoy group skills work as well. My goal is to bring respect and a nonjudgmental stance into therapy/group sessions. I also believe strongly in holding space for humor and gratitude. We all have an amazing capacity for renewal and growth. The keys to help us find this change are within us all, and I look forward to the opportunity to help.
We Have Experience With…
Professional counseling for people who have experienced trauma or abuse in their lives. Counseling for trauma and abuse is most effective when counselors use treatment methods specific to these issues. We have therapists trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to assist with resolving traumatic memories.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
